Elections in Norderstedt

General information on elections:
An election denotes the act of voting on certain people (candidates). Its aim is to further the decision-making process and decision-making. Democratic elections are held under the following guidelines:

In principle, all citizens may vote, irrespective of their race, educational background, income, religion or sex.

Third parties are not allowed to interfere with election proposals, the election campaign and the right to vote and stand for election.

All voters have the same number of votes, and all votes are weighted equally.

Voters can fill in their ballot uninfluenced and unobserved in a voting booth and cast their vote into the ballot box in an envelope

The right to vote means that anyone over a certain age (depending on the type of election, either from 16 or 18 years of age), and provided he/she is a German or an EU citizen (depending of the type of election), is allowed to cast his/her vote.

The passive electoral rights include the right to stand as candidate.

For every upcoming election, we need poll workers – volunteers who oversee the elections at a polling station on election day. Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you are interested.  We are looking forward to working with you.
